The task: model and assemble a vehicle in SolidWorks using at least 5 different tools (i.e. spline, loft, wrap, etc.), which features functional wheels and a minimum of 4 different parts. Create an associated exploded view and assembly drawing with a Bill of Materials (BOM).
Using SolidWorks, I recreated the Hogwarts Express Locomotive from the Harry Potter franchise with working functionality (demonstrated in video below). I created 4 main parts: the body of the train, the wheel, and two distinct coupling rods (for train-like wheel movement), which I then assembled (17 parts total - 8x wheel, 4x coupling rod 1, 4x coupling rod 2, 1x main body). Through this project, I gained valuable experience with global variables, loft, planes, boss/cut extrude, boss/cut revolve, fillet, chamfer, mirror, shell, wrap, assembly, assembly drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and exploded views.
